Welcome to the Packers Class of '61 Home Page
This site was to promote awareness about the 40th class reunion for all classmates from Largo High School's class of 1961. In the course of 40 years we've scattered all over the country, lived a good portion of our lives, raised families, worked hard
and now some even retired (like me)!
The 40th Reunion is over but it's never too early to plan for the future! There was some talk of having an annual picnic, in conjunction with the LHS 50's picnic, each year for those close enough to travel or who will be in town. It would be held each November, with a full blown reunion every 5 years (also in November) with the next one being 2006, our 45th!
As time passes, seemingly quicker each year, five years seems like a long time to let pass to get together with old and new friends. If you're interested in an annual picnic, please drop me an email and if there's enough interest something can be planned. Email: jemiller@tampabay.rr.com

Reunion Weekend of November 9th-11th
The 40th reunion weekend is over!!
About a dozen of us were able to connect with each other Friday
night at the Rockaway, then went over to the Palm Pavilion to grab
a bite to eat.
The 50's Largo High picnic Saturday was another chance for some
of us to connect and it was encouraging to met classmates from
LHS from 1932 through the 1950's!! Hopefully we'll all still be
going strong and be able to get together after 60+ years too!
(Unfortunately, only a handfull showed up for the picnic on Sunday.)
The dinner cruise was fantastic!! There were over 90 of us who
sailed out on to the Clearwater intercoastal on a beautiful, calm,
night. We had a fabulous time reconnecting with old friends and
making new ones!! There was a lot of hugging, laughter, dancing
and enjoyment of good music, excellent food and great company!
John Anderson came from Michigan, Sara Attaway~Uranga from Oklahoma,
Katie Beardon~Morris from North Carolina, Wathen Brown~Doggett from
Georgia, Bob Countryman from Nevada, Barry Rauchle from California,
Bob Lockhart from Kansas, Bob Signor from Nebraska, Gerry Spicer~Pearson
from Minnesota, Jim Welch from Virginia and the rest of us from every nook
and cranny in Florida!
Everyone has promised to send me disks and CD's of the pictures they
took so will send you an announcement when all of those are uploaded
onto a website for you to see. Will even take any pictures and I'll scan them!

Although it's been fun talking to a lot of classmates trying to coordinate
this, the 40th reunion, it has was frustrating trying to track down
missing classmates. It was also perplexing trying to understand why those
that we did contact did not respond at all since they represent about
1/3 of the entire class!
If you're reading this, and really have no interest in attending any future
LHS reunion, please just drop me a short note and we'll make sure not to
bug you any more, plus you'll save anyone working on a reunion a lot of
time and effort trying to contact you. Only two people have been honest
and expressed a desire not to be contacted.
Again, I'd like to thank Dave Bassett, Emory Brown and Jim Leggett for all
of their support in trying to locate and contact classmates!! Without their help
the reunion wouldn't have been possible. Em was side-swiped by a semi-
tractor when he started driving down to the reunion from New Jersey. Thank
heavens he is okay, but his car was totaled. (We missed you Em!!)

friends, the good times.
Although we all may have changed just a tad
since those days.....won't it be fun to get
